Dorothy the Dinosaur Digestive Gummies

Jodie has been in the kitchen experimenting with a new flavour for her gut-healing gummies and these Blueberry, Apple & Ginger ones have turned out a treat! Not to mention look super appealing to kids in the dinosaur moulds!

Natural Gelatin is used for nourishing and healing the gut, improving digestion, boosting immunity and also strengthens bones and joints.

Dorothy the Dinosaur Gummies

Ingredients

🔸 3 Tablespoons Nutra Organics Australian Grass Fed Natural Gelatin (you can purchase this from the Synergy Bodywork Wellness Hub – click here to enquire)

🔸 1/2 cup Natural Apple Juice (I used Nudie cloudy apple juice)

🔸 1/2 cup pureed Blueberries (I used frozen as that’s what I had in the house but fresh ones will work too)

🔸 sweetener of your choice and qty to individual taste – This time round I used 2 heaped tablespoons of natural Birch Xylitol, but you can substitute this with your preference of natural honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, stevia

🔸 2 teaspoons minced ginger (if your kids aren’t a fan, you can leave this out completely or reduce it to 1 teaspoon)

🔸 silicone moulds – I got the dinosaur ones from Coles and all the others have been purchased at various times from Kmart, BigW, Reject Shop, Neds (you will find them in the kitchen/baking section of most stores)

Method

🔸 Place apple juice into a small saucepan and gently whisk in the gelatin. It will start to thicken so make sure you don’t have any lumps, add the ginger (optional) and sugar (make it a bit sweeter than normal as you still have half a cup of liquid to add at the end).

🔸 Put saucepan over a low heat to ‘bloom’ the gelatin and dissolve the sugar – this will only take a couple of minutes and your mix should become a thickened liquid

🔸 Remove from heat and stir in the pureed blueberry, pour into moulds and set in either the fridge or freezer

These delicious and healthy treats are simple to make and the combinations are endless!

The main rule of thumb is 1 cup of any liquid (juice, coconut water, milk or nut mylk, water etc) to 3 tablespoons of Natural Gelatin. For fruit gummies, use 1/2 cup of your preferred liquid and 1/2 cup of pureed fruit – its that simple! These are just some of the others combinations I have made previously: Orange, Mandarin, Pineapple & Coconut, Strawberry, Honey & Lemon, Pink Grapefruit -the flavours are really about what you like and where your imagination takes you.
